Ams OSRAM Introduces EVIYOS® 2.0 LED for Adaptive Headlights
Ams OSRAM, a prominent provider of optical solutions, has introduced EVIYOS® 2.0, a game-changing innovation in automotive forward lighting. This innovative multipixel LED’s fully adjustable, dynamic illumination capabilities and revolutionary image projection advance automotive technology.
In high-beam mode, EVIYOS® 2.0 illuminates the road ahead selectively, enhancing the driver’s visibility without pollution. With 25,600 programmable LEDs and a pixel pitch of 40 m, the LED array can project high-resolution images onto the road surface. These images depict warning symbols and direct vehicles around obstacles.
This innovative device increases road safety by increasing drivers’ reaction time to hazards that traditional headlights overlook because they are concealed or partially obscured. It purports to make driving at night safer and simpler.
However, EVIYOS® 2.0 surpasses standard safety precautions by introducing new vehicle communication methods. It provides crucial information to vehicles and bystanders by projecting images onto the road. It can display a snowflake to indicate icy or treacherous conditions, thereby reducing the likelihood of accidents.

A decade of engineering work at ams OSRAM has resulted in the serial production of EVIYOS® 2.0.
Wolfgang Lex, senior vice president of automotive at ams OSRAM, stated that high-resolution adaptive forward lighting will be the next major thing for premium brands. EVIYOS® 2.0 enables the most precision front lighting systems and adds value to the automotive industry.
EVIYOS® 2.0 utilizes ams OSRAM’s innovations in semiconductor design and fabrication. A monolithic -LED processor incorporates 25,600 pixels for superior color and brightness consistency.
EVIYOS® 2.0 contains the multipixel emitter and driver for each of the 25,600 LEDs. Adaptive Driving Beam systems employ a lensed headlamp assembly with a multipixel headlamp and an intelligent camera for scanning the scene. A dynamic configuration enables the headlight to selectively deactivate LEDs during high-beam mode, minimizing reflection for other road users and enhancing the driver’s visibility around turns.
EVIYOS® 2.0, a technological marvel, provides energy-efficient automobile illumination. It only activates the necessary LEDs to optimize driver visibility and conserve energy. Its 40 mm2 footprint fits into compact headlamp assemblies and delivers 1:4 (25,600 pixels) and 1:3 (19,200 pixels) aspect ratios.
Globally renowned manufacturers and Tier One suppliers have incorporated EVIYOS® 2.0 into their product designs. Marelli introduced the h-Digi® microLED, its first multipixel LED headlamp module based on EVIYOS® 2.0.
Didier Thalgott, senior vice president of Marelli’s automobile illumination & sensing division, stated, “ams OSRAM and Marelli are redefining automobile front illumination. The h-Digi® microLED platform module, powered by ams OSRAM EVIYOS® 2.0, enables us to enhance driver safety and comfort at night. Its compactness, power efficiency, and cost-effectiveness are also advantageous for mid-range automobiles. Marelli is a pioneer in digital vehicle illumination using h-Digi® microLED.” ams OSRAM is the global market leader in automotive lighting. Their optical components and innovative technologies are utilized in virtually every component of an automobile, from LED headlamps and rear illumination to interior and decorative lighting.
The unveiling of EVIYOS® 2.0 by ams OSRAM marks a significant milestone in automotive lighting technology. As this groundbreaking innovation makes its way into vehicles, it represents a step forward in enhancing road safety and nighttime driving experiences.
